The influence of snow melting agents on concrete pavement

1. Erosion of concrete pavement, reducing pavement strength.
The chloride in the chloride salt snow melting agent can react chemically with the setting cement mortar. The chemical composition of water sinking mortar is sodium hydroxide and calcium chloride produced by the reaction of calcium hydroxide and psychoactive chemicals. Among them, calcium chloride has a high solubility, and the calcium ions in the solution dissolve, forming gaps inside the coagulator.

At the same time, a large amount of chloride ions contained in the solution are prone to form crystals in low-temperature environments, much larger than water molecule crystals, commonly known as salt freezing phenomenon. The damage of salt freezing to concrete pavement is greater than that of pure ice and snow melting, which damages the mechanical properties of concrete pavement and reduces its strength.

2. Rusting of steel bars and cracking of concrete pavement.

Concrete mixed aggregates and fillers are highly alkaline chemical materials, especially after high proportion calcium hydroxide hardening, which can make the alkalinity of the steel bar interface reach 12.6 or above, forming a steel bar protective film with good protective effect, commonly known as passivation film. In strong alkaline environments, it reduces the activity of the steel bar and prolongs its service life.

The use of snow melting agents brings a large amount of spiritual ions, greatly reducing the pH value near the steel bars, damaging the original calling environment, breaking away from the purification membrane, and causing the steel bars to rust. After a certain degree of change occurs on the surface of the steel bar, the volume of the steel bar rapidly expands, about 2 to 6 times the original. The concrete wrapped around the steel bars is squeezed, causing the road surface to crack and reducing the bearing capacity of the entire concrete road surface.

3. Damage to concrete pavement.

Spray snow melting agent on concrete pavement. After winter, the road surface will turn white, causing the color of the road surface to become lighter, loose, or the aggregates to fall off, resulting in extensive damage to the road surface. After the snow melts and the concrete pavement is damaged, soil compression often occurs; Road maintenance can reveal the collapse or swelling deformation of the roadbed. Most of the reason is that the chloride solution infiltrates the roadbed, damaging the original structure.
